Mouth of the South isn't just a restaurant—it's a gathering place and a damn good reason to stay out late or get up early. We bring in real musicians playing real music, right in the middle of it all. No velvet ropes, no separation. Just good sound settling into your bones while you eat, drink, and lose track of time.
We've hosted heavy hitters like Hector Anchondo, Tom Pevear, Dustin Arbuckle & Matt Woods, Gunnar Guenette, Steve Lovett, Brody Buster, Tony Holiday, and Max Kaplan. Whether it's a weeknight set or a weekend throwdown, expect scratch-made Southern food, strong drinks, and music that hits you right in the soul.

MOTS After Dark | September 3rd, October 1st, November 5th
This fall, we're staying open late and turning our dining room over to full live bands the first Thursday of each month. We're calling it MOTS After Dark.
If you were here for our Mardi Gras party, you know the kind of night we mean. West Omaha doesn't get enough live music, so we're handling it ourselves. Hand-picked bands, kitchen open late, room turned loud.

Brody Buster Band | MOTS After Dark

About MOTS After Dark:
MOTS After Dark is our live music night. A full band takes the room from 8 to 11, the bar's open the whole time, and the kitchen keeps appetizers coming. No cover, ever. Walk-ins only, so come early if you want a seat.
West Omaha doesn't get enough live music, so we're handling it ourselves.

About Brody:
At just seven years old, Brody Buster picked up one of his mother's harmonicas and began teaching himself to play. Within a few short years, he was jamming on Beale Street in Memphis, taking the blues world by storm.
As a child prodigy, Brody shared stages with legends including Quincy Jones, Chaka Khan, Keb' Mo', and Lee Oskar. B.B. King himself took a keen interest in Brody's talent, inviting him to perform together numerous times over the years. Television appearances followed, with highlights including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Dateline, The Jon Stewart Show, and Full House.
At sixteen, Brody stepped away from the spotlight to live as a normal teenager. In 2013, he reemerged with "Brody Buster's One Man Band"—electric guitar, phenomenal harmonica skills, snare, kick drum, and high-octane energy. In 2017, he returned to Memphis for the International Blues Challenge, competing against over 150 world-class musicians. He walked away with first place for Best Harmonica Player and second place for Best Solo/Duo Act, then toured the U.S. and Canada, performing at the Montreal Jazz Festival, Tremblant International Blues Festival, and beyond.
After navigating personal struggles during the pandemic, Brody relocated to Missouri in 2023 and committed to a fresh start. Now rooted in sobriety and renewed purpose, he's poured his experiences into new music, recording his first self-produced full-band studio album with some of Kansas City's finest blues musicians.

Nick Townsend | Sunday Blues Brunch

Nick Townsend’s a Nebraska native that has competed in multiple reality singing competition shows such as, NBC’s “The Voice” and ABC’s “American Idol” where he placed top 40. Nick's traveled and performed in over 25 countries across the world and spent the last 10 years living in Los Angeles as a songwriter and performer.

Roots Music from Tulsa, OK
Tom Pevear is a Boston native turned Tulsa roots musician, bringing fresh life to old-school blues, folk, gospel, and country. His music pays tribute to the legends while adding his own soulful touch, inspired by artists like Ray Charles and Rev. Gary Davis. With a killer debut EP, hundreds of shows a year, and a true passion for keeping traditional music alive, Tom’s the real deal. We’re pumped to have him bringing the vibe to Blues Brunch at Mouth of the South—don’t miss it!

A true bluesman at heart, he’s inspired by legends like Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Johnny Cash. After years of touring, recording, and sharing the stage with some of the best in the business, Hector brings his soulful sound and serious guitar chops wherever he goes. We’re so excited to have him bringing the blues to Blues Brunch at Mouth of the South—come hungry and ready to jam!

About The Pocket Architects:
The Pocket Architects are a blues-funk quartet from the Omaha, Nebraska metro area known for blending traditional blues roots with energetic funk grooves and youthful musicianship. Formed by four young musicians connected through the Blues Society of Omaha, the band quickly gained attention in the regional music scene for their tight chemistry and dynamic live performances.
The group consists of Cameron Bothwell (vocals/keys/bass), Wes Burns (guitar), Caden Pendleton (drums), and Cameron Vakili (multi-instrumentalist). The members originally met through school music programs in Gretna, Nebraska and began playing together after connecting through BluesEd, where they developed a shared foundation in blues performance and improvisation.
Despite forming not long ago, the band has already built a strong presence in the Nebraska live-music scene, performing at venues such as The Slowdown and The B. Bar in Omaha and The Zoo Bar in Lincoln. Their shows feature a high-energy mix of original songs and blues-inspired covers, combining traditional blues musicianship with modern funk and groove-driven arrangements.
In 2025, The Pocket Architects won the Nebraska Blues Challenge, earning the opportunity to represent the state at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis TN, one of the most respected blues competitions in the world. Their success has helped position them as one of the most promising young acts emerging from the Omaha blues scene.
Driven by a mix of classic blues influence, modern groove, and a unique approach to promotion and design, The Pocket Architects continue to grow their audience across Nebraska while developing a distinct sound shaped by a new generation of musicians.

Matt Woods | Sunday Blues Brunch

About Matt:
Matt Woods is both a native of Iowa, and a longstanding purveyor of its diverse music scene. As a seasoned performer of many local, regional and national venues, Matt has developed a distinct style while staying true to his love of traditional American music. Woods is well versed in the many shapes this music can take; from traditional delta, hill country and urban electric blues, to gospel, country and folk music. In addition to performing 100+ shows per year as a solo act, playing with several roots oriented bands and backing up some of the finest songwriters in the Midwest, Matt can often be found in the studio, adding guitar parts to a diverse array of recordings.

About Matt Woods Band:
The Matt Woods Band plays old school urban electric blues out of Des Moines, the kind of hard-hitting, guitar-driven sound that came straight out of the Chess Records catalog. Matt Woods handles guitar and vocals and puts up 100+ shows a year across the Midwest. Patrick Recob has spent three decades touring on bass, including runs with the Gary Primich Band and Lee McBee & The Confessors. Dwight Dario is an Iowa Blues Hall of Famer who toured Europe a dozen times with the Big George Jackson Blues Band. Put them in a room together and it turns into a blues party.
